My inspiration for this cake design was my own mother. After beating breast cancer once we were devastated to learn that it had metasticised just shy of 5 years later. She started treatment immediately but sadly lost her battle to breast cancer in February of 2008. Each tier of my design has a special meaning for me. The bottom tier represents the mother daughter bond. The birch tier reminds me of the trees we had in our yard growing up. I added the floral wreath because my mother always loved fresh flowers. The wings are representative of the angel that I now have watching over me and of course the pink ribbon to support breast cancer.
