Vertical Layer Cake

Vertical Layer Cake on Cake Central

I said when I found this photo I would post it. Here it is for anyone who wanted to see it! Layers of very thin slab cake, cut into strips, smbc'd and rolled up then covered and decorated as per required. Fiddly, messy and time consuming but I love making these- although as I am GF its not quite as easy but if you use fatless or 'blowaway' sponge it holds together much better. This one was decorated with rolled chocolate modelling paste roses and leaves. I shall be making one of these layer cakes for my own birthday in a weeks time...think I might make it rainbow strips...with macarons on the outside! Ooo... I'm drooling already!

LOVED the photo of the cut cake.  Fiddly????  Uh...yeah....  I admire your patience, but I don't even have enough patience to do this with thin horizontal layers.  Would be exciting to see a rainbow cake done this way!
