Made this cake for my grandson Hudson’s 2nd birthday. He loves, loves, loves trains. Every time Hudson visits, he says watch “train show please grandma”. His favorite train tho isn’t Thomas…his favorite is James the red Engine, because he loves the colour red. Every time James appears in the show, Hudson asks to rewind and watch him over & over to see him!! And….Hudson’s middle name is …what else…“James”. Hudson was sooo excited when he saw his cake..he kept saying..train cake Mommy, train cake!! Warmed my heart. ❤ Top tier is 3 cake layers, 2 chocolate mud and orange pound cake in the middle. Iced in orange buttercream. Covered in orange flavored blue fondant. James the train is made from gumpaste, clouds are homemade marshmallow fondant. Hudson letters are made from red modeling chocolate. Bottom is a cake dummy with a brick wall, train tracks climbing up the cake with train tracks on cobblestones and little black trains made from a mold. The number 2 is gumpaste.
