Treasure Chest

Treasure Chest on Cake Central

Lid is 8" rounds cut in half and the bottom is 11x18 sheet pan cut in half and stacked. So fun! All hand made white chocolate shells, tiara, coins, gems. I have a piece of cake board that runs across the back of the cake and lolly pop sticks under that sections to support the lid. Two more longer lolly pop sticks near the front to prop the lid up. A couple of skewers through the back section of the cake and all the way through into the base board for extra support. Buttercream icing was applied to the cake, then I mixed some chocolate ganache with some buttercream and spread some around in random places for aged wood look. I pressed a wood grain mat on it slightly and also added some lines and holes with fondant tools. I then sat one of the cake pans next to the cake to draw the line for the boards 2" high and used a ruler to make straight lines the rest of the way up the sides. Lid of the cake is chocolate and the base is vanilla cake. Fondant trim on the chest. So fun to make! Hope these notes help if you make one :) Angela
