Winter Warmth

Winter Warmth on Cake Central

This is my cake entry from the Mid-Atlantic Wedding Cake Contest. The theme was four seasons and you were allowed to pick only one season. The fisherman knit sweater was done by braiding spaghetti thin pieces of fondant. The Burberry plaid wasn't difficult just very time consuming.

Thanks ladies! I'm pretty proud too. It took me days to do this. I didn't place but since I've never made a wedding cake and I've only been decorating for 10 months I'm beaming with pride over my 86.7 average score!! Kim Morrisson was one of the judges. She was very generous with her score and had nice comments.

Thanks again everyone! You all are so supportive :) The braiding was done by making spaghetti thin strands of fondant by using my Cuisinart pasta machine then taking 3 strands and laboriaously braiding them. The pattern behind was made just by using my pastry wheel cutter tool.

This cake ACTUALLY made my jaw drop. It is absolutely gorgeous! I'm 100% Irish and I love that it looks like an Irish sweater. Wow Wow Wow!!

Wow! What an incredible cake! I can't imagine how long you must have spent making this! It's just amazing.

This is my favourite cake!! It's so PERFECT!! I might attempt this idea for a friend's birthday--she loves burberry!!

Love it! Love everything about it. I think it's really cool too that you didn't do the same "swatch" on the 2 plaid tiers. Just wow.
