* My daughter's wedding cake on June 15, 2013. 14",10",8" and 6" tiers The cakes were made from scratch with two tiers being red velvet cake with cream cheese flavored buttercream filling and two tiers being dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache buttercream filling. All covered with homemade butter flavored MMF. Cake decorating is a hobby of mine, and through the years I have enjoyed making my girls birthday cakes and special occasion cakes, but I never dreamed that one of them would request that I make her wedding cake. Needless to say, I was very honored that she asked, but I also knew that it would be quite a challenge for me. I had never made a wedding cake, covered a cake in fondant, used the quilting technique or stenciled on a cake before! Fortunately, I had a year and a half to figure it out and practice, and cc was my main source for recipes, techniques and information. Thanks to the many cc bakers and decorators who graciously share their knowledge and experience so that others can learn. Just had to share my efforts. I am quite pleased with the way that it turned out, but more importantly I am thrilled that my daughter loved it and was proud that her mother made her wedding cake.
