I made this cake for the Second Annual Cakes for a Cause competition. The skull is made completely of cake and covered in fondant. The horns are Rice Krispie treats brushed with thinned royal icing, and the cacti are sugar cookies iced with royal icing. I got the idea from Collette Peters' birthday cake book. I'm really proud of the fact that everything, even the stands holding up the cookies, are edible. I won first place in the professional division!
