The Cup-Cake

The cake I made for my birthday this year. So much fun to do! The base is chocolate cake covered in fondant. The cupcakes are all vanilla covered in rich buttercream. Yum. The candle is fondant formed over a wooden dowel. The label is fondant with piped RI, painted with luster+vodka. Happy Birthday to me!

Thanks! It's not supposed to look like a taco salad shell though. :( Anyhow, I carved, iced, and covered it in fondant upside down. I placed it upside down on a small cakeboard and set it up on top of a small cake pan (so the sides would drape down). It was actually really easy. I just let it sit in the fridge for a short time while I iced the cupcakes, Then put the large cakeboard on top and turned the whole thing over and the sides stayed firm. :)
