Flying Carpet Cake

Flying Carpet Cake on Cake Central

I'm not sure what I was thinking with this cake. Just a practice cake. It came out sort of looking like a flying carpet so that's what I called it! The top tier was too large and actually hung off the sides a little so next time I would do the sizes differently when rotating tiers on top of each other.

I think it looks GREAT! I really like the design on this cake too. It is different. How did you do the stringwork so perfectly?

Thanks everyone! I really didn't have any idea in mind when I started this cake. I was trying out a new cake and filling recipe and had some leftover frosting that I added red to. Didn't quite make the red color. Not sure what color it was when I started. I think the corners came about because I didn't like how the top of the stringwork (just freehanded) ended so I put the shell on each corner of the diamond and then they sort of multiplied!

I think this would be a great cake for a guy. It is always hard to find something that would be good for a guy that is not a sports cake. I agree the top tier could be a little smaller but otherwise I really like it.
