The only thing the client told me in regards to her cake design was her three favorite colors were purple, pink & turquoise and that was it. I started making flowers in those colors but had no design. I was desperate. Once I started filling and crumb coating, I decided to trim up the rough edges of the bottom layer. Before I knew it, I was doing the wonky cut all the way around but still had no clue what I was going to do with this cake. After allowing the layers to settle overnight, still no ideas. Sigh. Finally, at the last moment I came up with this design. And by last moment I mean I did not finish this cake until 2 hours before her party! A definite race with the clock.
