Lifepointe Grand Opening Cake

Lifepointe Grand Opening Cake on Cake Central

This is a cake I made for my church to celebrate its Grand Opening in a brand new building. The lower half of the cake is fondant covered styrofoam, both to save on materials and so that I could make it up ahead of time, as the Grand opening came at the end of a VERY busy week. The upper half is 6 layers of fondant covered yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The roof is chocolate frosting with a tile pattern pressed in. The very front steeple is made of fondant covered RCT's. The figures are all sculpted fondant, the ladder is made of painted styrofoam since I didn't have enough time for my fondant one to dry. I am very happy with how the cake turned out. It is the largest cake I've ever done as it had to feed a great many people... and since I am still an amateur it involved a LOT of learning as I went along. Of course I look at it and see a dozen things I wish I'd done differently if I'd had more time... but overall I think it turned out great and the church was extrememly happy with it. :)
