The finished cake had gold fondand crown on top and fondant picture frames with edible images of the birthday girl sitting beside the cake. Sorry, I couldn't post that one!!
Thank you! I used a diamond patterned impression mat and just pressed it into the sides and top of the cake. It was very easy with the shape of this cake.
Thanks everyone!!! The board is covered with wrapping paper. I cut the solid pink shape out so the writing would show better. I then covered it in clear food-safe celophane paper.
I love everything about this cake and where do I find those impression mats!!!! Did you roll the roses? Oh, and did you freehand that writing! I'm so jealous! I'm so tired of using the Wilton letters!
Cakemommy - Yes, I rolled the fondant roses. They are really easy to do. I bought the impression mat at Sugarcraft. I live near the store, but you can buy them on-line at their website, www.sugarcraft.com. I didn't free hand the writing, I'm really bad at that!! I have a sugarveil icing dispenser and I used sugarveil icing in it and used a pattern for the writing, so I just let the icing dry til it was set and peeled the words off and stuck them on the cake board.
