Snowflake Cake

I made this cake for my mothers work place. It doubled as an office christmas party, and a birthday party cake. I wasn't planning on putting the snowflakes around the side, but the birthday girl was there when I was placing the snowflakes on... I think it turned out ok like that thou.

I LOVE the snowflakes. Are they made of royal icing? What are they attached to? :D Good job!

Thanks for the comment shannas. Yes the snowflakes are royal icing. they are attached to craft wire. this was my first time doing something like this and i made a lot of extras in case of breakage, I still have about a dozen left, lol

I am planning a Surprise 60th Birthday party for my mother, the theme is "Winter Wonderland". I generally do a lot of baking myself and would love to make her cake. How exactly would I go about making the snowflakes for the cake?

isalopez, for the snowflakes I just printed some out from my computer, put wax paper over them, and traced it with royal icing. the ones with the wire just make sure you put the wire directly into the wet icing.
