This was my very first frozen buttercream transfer. I made the mistake of shaping the cake but forgetting that the image gets flipped! Would the image be smoother if I thinned the icing more?
thanks everyone! Yup, I used the FBCT recipie on this site. It didn't taste so great, but I'm not an icing fan. So, any advice on how to get it smoother? Do I thin the icing more??
@cakefun..I got the pic from the internet. Thanks everyone for all the compliments!....so, do I make the icing thinner to get a smoother look? Or is there more to it than that?
Hi I love your cake and have had great success with FBCT's...as for thinner icing, well it doesnt need to be Thick thick buttercream, but I think just use a bigger tip when you are applying, will give less of a "wormlike" effect...and smooth it down with a slightly wet fingertip...thats what I do...I tweaked around with the FBCT instructions here until I got it just like I wanted....best of luck to you on your next one, though this ones great on its own :D
Beautiful job! I would play with the consistency a little until you feel you have it just right; maybe do a practice FBCT and with each shape or whatever, thin the icing just a little and see which works the best. The outline might have to be a little thicker though.
