I made this for a friend who is a butcher and he loves to surf when he gets a chance. Whilst making the characther, which really looks like him (in fondant) there was so much moisture in the air due to a week of torrential rain, I could not get it to stand up. This is actually the 2nd character I made and in the end gave up on trying to get him to stand. So I thought I have to think outside the square here and came up with the idea that there is a reason he is sitting on his surf board - hence the shark fin, which in the end I thought looked really great. Apparently his children and family just loved the cake and all its characters. The cake is a flowerless orange and almond cake, covered with fondant.
