Birthday Carrot Cake

Carrot cake with lemon cream cheese filling, with my cream cheese icing. For the borders, I used the "crusting cream cheese icing" recipe from this site with 1/2 tsp meringue powder added, and was very happy with the results.

How did you do the sides? Is it a spatula or impression mats. I love the border and sides.
