I made this cake for the 2011 Iowa State Fair. The top tier is hand painted with edible food paint. The second tier consists of over 300 diamond shaped pieces of fondant painstakingly placed one by one. The bottom tier is just a simple black stripe of fondant. The magnolias are made out of gumpaste.
