I made this cake for the 2011 Iowa state fair. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the butter cow, so there was a special category in the decorated cakes division to celebrate this anniversary. I decided to make a scaled down version of the butter cow. I used modeling chocolate because it looks the most like butter. This was also the first time I had ever made a free-standing cake.
