A mole crab, is a small crustacean, which borrows down in the wet sand after a wave passes over. Sometimes they are referred to as 'Sand Fleas'. This particular family, has come to OBX since 1961. For the past 10 years, they have caught 'Mole Crabs', in the surf and made 'Mole Crab Poppers', with them. They have deep fried the mole crabs! I've lived on OBX for over 25 years and I have never heard of such a thing. When I questioned the islanders about this, they had never heard of such a thing. 1/4 sheet, half vanilla, half chocolate.
