This was my first attempt at making a wedding cake that I was volunteered to do :)

You were volunteered to do it? Well, it's pretty good! Have you tried fondant yet?

No, but that is ultimately what I want to do. Is it easier to buy than to make? Does it taste good?

Oh volunteered, I hate that word! You did a good job. You should try the faux fondant. The instructions are on this site and so is the crusted buttercream II recipe. It's easy, looks like fondant but tastes great, unlike rolled fondant.

Great effort for your first wedding cake! It's simple, yet elegant.

I think this was avery nice first effort. You kept it very simple, did not venture into something you were not comfortable doing, and you managed a very simple, yet elegant, cake. Keep up the good work.
