The beer stein is made of 4 - 4 inch cakes with two sets of dowel supports. One is for the top two cakes and the other is at the bottom of the beer stein. The foam is cream cheese icing. The beer barrel is a 10 inch cake covered in chocolate fondant. For the wood slats, I measured with a ruler and indented with a pizza wheel and for the wood grain I just cut with a sharp pearing knife. I got my inspiration from U-tube and from my friends on CC.
