This is a cake I made for my nephew's 5th birthday. It's only the second cake I've carved, and the tallest I've done. My sister gave me a picture of a cake with a cardboard lid but I had to do more than that. I painted it with food coloring to make it look like wood. All the treasure is candy that she provided. The treasure map I made with fondant and edible markers and made it look like their house with the x marking where the cake would be set. The lock and key are also done in fondant.
