Rainbow Layer Cake

This cake was tedious but a real crowd pleaser and the look on my daughters face was priceless. Making the frosting from scratch was so worth it. Yummy. Would love any feedback. 22 Tbs. salted butter, softened (about 3 sticks) 2/3 cup Crisco shortening 5-7 Tbs. heavy cream (start out with 5 Tbsp. and add more at the end if you need to thin it down) 2 tsp clear vanilla 2 pounds powdered sugar (about 8 cups) 1-3 Tbs. corn syrup Combine butter and shortening in an electric mixture and mix until smooth and you don't see any lumps. Takes about 1 minute depending on how soft your butter is. Turn the mixer on low and add the vanilla. Next slowly stream in the cream. Then, turn the mixer speed up just until everything comes together. Turn the mixer down while you slowly add the powdered sugar. Scrape down the bowl to be sure that all the powdered sugar is mixed in well and then add the corn syrup 1 Tbsp. at a time, mixing until the frosting is of spreading consistency.
