This 12ft tall cake, iced in all buttercream, had over 75 yards of swarovski rhinestones, almost 500 yards of crystal bead strands and tons of sequins and rhinestones. To top all that, it even had LED lighting running up the center of all the tiers. Because the bride wanted the cake to stay on display for the entire length of the reception, most of the display cake was dummies, with real cake on the lowest tier and 400 servings in satellite cakes. Each satellite cake was on a crystal beaded stand with lights under each one, and they were scattered around on the "cookie tables" that had approx 200 trays of italian cookies. To put this "cake" together, we had two 12ft ladders and a power lift. My husband and son were each on a ladder and another son was in the power lift holding a tier while the others were running the lights up into it. There was a paved mirror tile base underneath and a 60" mirror on top of the table. It definately made a statement and was the topic of conversation at the reception.
