First Pirate Ship

I got a call late Thursday night from a lady hosting an event for Make A Wish. She was hosting a fundraiser party for a boy whose wish was to be a pirate. She said she was sorry for the late notice but that the event was for Saturday could I please make a cake with some kind of pirate theme. I told her yes even though I had no clue what to do. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and do my first large sculpted cake. The cake is on a 22inch round drum covered in marbeled fondant. The ship was made by stacking 3 1/4 sheet cakes and then carving to the shape I needed. I then covered with light brown fondant and painted over it to get a wood effect. The sails, treasure chest gold coins and barrels are all fondant as well. I used wood dowels for support and for the sails. The pearls are antique pearl dragees. I had to use plastic people because I just ran out of time.
