Hey guys...just a note..I just did another one. It works best if you do MMF & prepared gumpaste with a 2 to 3 ratio more MMF. My second brim I did out of Wiltons premade......it wouldnt dry and then it broke in a trillion pieces...the MMF + gumpaste worked the best. just FYI...
I know......hurts to look!!! LOL!! :D
Don't be so hard on yourself! I've never even tried to make a cake that needs to be shaped/carved, so any of them look fantastic to me! And this is no exception.
Don't beat yourself up...i have been wanting to do this cake and don't even know where to begin so in my book you are ahead of the game
I think it turned out very nice. We are our own worst critics.
TRue!! thanks for the encouragement!!!
Hey! You're off to a great start! The brim cracked on my first one. Wait till the next one - it'll be great!
I think that it turn out great and I believe the next one will be even better maybe you'll be able to give me some pointers next time.
it turned out good!!...the curl came out of my brim almost immediatly then it cracked...so give yourself a pat on the back
I think that you did a great job. I did a cowboy hat for the first time too and I dried my brim with a fan for a full day and chilled the cake really well before assembly. I used all fondant and it turned out ok. Keep up the good work.
