Owl Bulldog Lion Cake

Oval layers, covered in marshmallow fondant, decorated with paint buckets pouring 'paint', or melted marshmallow fondant. Owl, Bulldog, and lion are 6" & all marshmallow fondant. I am only giving details on things that aren't obvious to the avg. cake maker. To make: paint buckets-use end of med. tip dec. tube to cut circles. Cut rectangles the length of the diameter of circle , roll, attach circle. Roll thin tube for handles. To fill buckets-take a golf ball size marsh. fondant, place in a small pourable container (I used my plastic 1/3c measuring cup.) Microwave (Aprox. 25-30 sec) till you see it bubble up once..grab quick and pour near bucket, letting it drip where it may. Make sure you have a tiny scraper to guide the 'ooze' out of the cup. It starts to harden quick..you have about 30 seconds from microwave to cake. Right when it stops following, scoop a small piece and push into paint bucket to partially fill. 6"Bulldog- roll a 8" circle. Start at top 1/3 and fold inward for brow, once more above for looks. Got to the bottom 1/3 and fold up for bottom lip, then chin, then for jowls. Once you have 2 folds above, 3 below, attach a nose so you get a feel for what it should look like. Don't give up, it looks terrible until you add features. Take side edges and round them to the back to create back of head. Add teeth, tongue, eyes (dent w/tool, insert eye, smash brow wrinkle down over eye. Owl-pretty obvious, but wings were 'ruffed up' w/a tool, then painted w/color on top of orange fondant. Legs were made, toothpicks inserted, then owl positioned on top and inserted. Lion-obvious, but the mane isn't shown here. The body was all fondant, but I used orange buttercream w/the multi-holed tip to add fur right before serving (hot day). Tree stump-use 'old' hard brown fondant, microwave for 15 sec, roll out tube shape, ruff up good, slice at angle and carve tree circle pattern in cut edge. Roll a small tube, then tear it and attach to stump. The tear makes it look real. Paint dark highlights in and around ruff areas for more texture. To write names: I used plastic decorator bags, 1/4c fondant and base of decorator tip-microwave for 28 sec, be prepared, it will be HOT! I used oven mits as soon as I put the tip and circle in place. Quickly write with fondant. Again, you have a very limited amount of time, so make sure you can handle the bag's temp.
