Everyone forgets that St. Valentine was martyred...a friend reminded me with this cake request. Red velvet cake with ivory buttercream, carved out from a design I sketched out. Flower petals made from melted/tinted white chocolate. I didn't really have decent decorating tools at the time, so the chocolate was spooned onto wax paper and I had never heard of "crumb coat" or freezing cakes to cut them into shapes before. I was wingin' it. Eh.
