Once upon a time, my mother-in-law Lois requested a cake for a shower she was hosting. As I contemplated the cake design, two things stuck out in my mind: the woman who had the baby works for the library and she had named him Jack. I didn't want to do a typical baby shower cake and thought it would be fun to turn the story of Jack & the Beanstalk into a cake. I included specific elements such as the hen that lays golden eggs, the bag of gold coins, and the golden harp but I have to say that my favourite part of this cake was Jack. It was my first time modeling a person out of gumpaste and I was extremely pleased with the way he looked.
