Cake for a friend's birthday. It's based on the piranha plant cake character from the Super Mario Brothers video game. The bottom part of the pipe is made from a 10" cake dummy and then a 10" cake. The top of the pipe is a carved 12" cake. Yellow butter cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, all covered in fondant. Piranha plant stem is a 3/8" dowel rod that goes all the way through the cakes and cake dummies and is secured to the cake board; also decorated with fondant. Plant head is a styrofoam ball covered in fondant. The thing stood about 3 feet tall!
