I made this cake for a friend who got married in the Carribean and had a backyard, beach-themed barbecue for friends when they got home. She didn't want her cake to be traditional at all, so this is what I came up with. I cut out all the fish free hand. The shells, palm tree, and sandals were made with candy melts and molds, and I attached them with royal icing. The octopi on the top were made with fondat. Looking at the pic now, the work was a bit messy, but my friend cried when I showed up to the reception with it, so I am happy with it.
