Fondant Wedding Cake

This was my first time working with fondant on a real cake. I was quite pleased with the result. The bottom tier was made up of seven 5" round tiers. The 12" tier was centered on the base, and the 9" and 6" tiers were aligned at the back with the 12" tier so as to leave room for the candles and flowers to sit on each tier.

First time huh!!! The swags are beautiful! Were the candles actually lit? I can imagine it melting the fondant a bit. Very beautiful cake!

Thank you all. Since this was my first fondant cake, I used the (ugh) Wilton fondant. I personally didn't light the candles, but the hostess may have during the reception. I was just glad to get it there in one piece, finish the details and get out of the way.

This is a great cake. I love the dramatics of the different sizes used and the placement of the top tiers. Excellent fondant work for the first time. Next time try making the MMF. It is great to work with and tastes good to.

WOW!! I love it! I wish I could do as well as you! I only worked with fondant in my Wilton Courses and since I didn't like the taste of it, I haven't tried it again. Very perfect for first time-especially the swags! Beautiful!!!!

Your cake is beautiful, I was wondering how you supported the bottom layers? did you put several dowels in each small 5" cake? Thanks so much!
