Indian Elephants

I made this cake for my friend's birthday, and chose the theme based on his upcoming trip to India in a few weeks. The cake is chocolate, with chocolate cream cheese frosting between the layers, covered with buttercream, and then with fondant. This was my first time working with fondant, and what an adventure it was! You can probably guess that I did the blue layer first, and, having learned what not to do from that, went back and did the red layer. The flowers are "marigolds"; just Wilton chrysanthemums out of buttercream. The cookies are gingerbread, with a lemon glaze and royal icing embellishments. I got the idea for the cookies from Rosey Sugar Art Confectionery. The text is just "Happy Birthday [Name]" spelled out phonetically in Hindi.
