For my little one's 3rd bday. Square yellow cakes (2 cut, so 4 layers), iced in BC (smoothed with parchment). Baby enstein characters are all RI (used the DVD covers under parchment and outlined them and filled in with RI). They took a long time, do that way ahead of time. They dried nicely, but some did not lay as flat as I would have liked, but it worked in the end.
