Quilted Anniversary

Quilted Anniversary on Cake Central

I made this cake for my parents' anniversary a few weeks ago. Bottom tier is butter-pecan with ganache filling covered with a thick layer of IMBC and then MMF. I quilted it using a welding rod my husband de-coated after watching me try doing it with various kitchen utensils with less than desirable results ;) The top tier is gluten free yellow cake with ganache filling, again coated liberally with IMBC and then MMF. The roses are made with fondant and the "29" topper with Royal Icing. The cake turned out, on the whole way better than I expected since I was using several new techniques but if I had it to do over I would have done the topper differently. At least with a different tip or something.
