This was my first cake for the Wilton 1 class, when the big decorating techniques were the filling in of areas with stars. I made the pattern by taking two pieces of origami paper, folding each into 6ths, and then cutting them out like snowflakes. I put the smaller one in the middle, and glued it down so that it wouldn't shift around while I was tracing. It was a fun alternative pattern, and the candles later fitted neatly into the 6 little tear-drop shapes!
