I made this alligator cake for little Owen's 1st birthday. The hardest part was finding the right materials to make the board to put it on. I made cupcakes in three different sizes with a family favorite chocolate cake recipe. I used varying shades of green when I iced the cupcakes in order to give it a more realistic look. It was easy to draw on the eyes, nose, etc. with buttercream icing colored with cocoa and black food coloring. The little children at the party got a big kick out of this alligator cupcake cake and it was BIG fun to make. However, I learned a good lesson with this one: think about how to get it where it needs to be way ahead of time! This was a booger to transport!
