Made for a former coworker whose mother turns 70 today! Long story short - she asked if I put milk in my frosting and I said no. Her mom is lactose intolerant. So after, I bake my cakes (using cake mix as a base) and get it filled and crumbcoated I decide to double check all my ingredients. Sure enough - dairy in the cake mix. Did you know that chocolate and a lot of other flavors have no dairy, but white has dairy?! I DIDN'T! So late last night I was rebaking (from SCRATCH this time) and went with sugar cookie vanilla cake that I found here. Tastes great, but has kind of a crispiness to it - maybe due to the dairy free substitutions I had to make. Hopefully the buttercream will soften it up some. It also didn't tort very well and the 2nd to bottom torted layer ended up with a big hole that I had to work my way around. I'd put this in disasters, but I like the FBCT that I put on it!!! I texturized the floor and fish scales and painted luster dust on the slot machine handle, dollar sign, and colored sections. I really like how this one turned out - except the cake part. But my hubby says it tastes good - he would tell me if it sucked so I think it will be okay!
