My very first attempt at decorating a cake - my son's 5th birthday - His request was a rocket ship cake. Bottom cake (space) is a 13x9 chocolate cake w/store bought chocolate frosting dyed black and yellow fondant stars. Top Cake (world) is a white almond cake made in a ball cake pan with blue buttercream frosting and fondant land masses. Rocket is made of rice krispy treats and covered in fondant. in this photo the dowel started to push through so I moved so the rocket pointed down some and then added long stick candles to the end to look like the boosters.
