I made this cake for my husband's b-day. He is an avid hiker and actually knows how to use a compass! This is a replica of the compass he uses. I used buttercream for the cake, but struggled with how to get the glass look on top. I ended up using gelatin. It looked great, but when I went to serve the cake it had run, shrunk and started to peel. Fortunately, I took the photo before this happened.
