This was for my friend Steve's 50th bday. He has a surfer party and this is the cake that I came up with. This was a fun cake to make. Around the bottom were handpainted surfboards, there were eight fondant girls on the bottom layer with a cookie sand texture. The middle was airbrushed with pretzel palm trees and gumpaste leaves with whomper (sp) for the coconuts, the top was a gumpaste wave with royal icing foam and a sufers with a light that my DH ran up the middle support pole to highlight him at night. Most of the ppl at the party did not even know this was a cake. Oh and my DH had hooked up a small speaker under the cake table and was playing surf music....TFL
