This cake was a disaster from the beginning : first I made my own version of fondant, made it by eye - no measurement, and made it too soft. This I discovered when covering the cake, I position wrong, and tried to lift it and reposition, but couldn't so I dragged the fondant over icing. BAD! I should know better. Then I ended up with a lumps... I was planning to make a different cake, so my plan A and B did not work, so plan Z did it :) To cover my not smooth fondant, I decided to do cornelli lace - also my first one. Eventually I think the cake ended up OK, hope my Mother-in law will like it. She is nice lady, I know she will :) The carnation are made from gum paste long time ago.
