Tinkerbell Cake W/tinkerbell's House

Tinkerbell Cake W/tinkerbell's House on Cake Central

I made this cake for my granddaughter Savanna's 3rd birthday party (03-28). This was my first time working with gum paste. White cake w/ strawberry butter cream filling and butter cream icing. Everything was made from scratch. I made my own piping gel for the water and my own gum paste. I used gum paste to make all of the flowers, leaves, vines, rocks, butterfly, dragon fly, lily pads, door of the house and to cover the house with. All decorations were edible except for the Tinkerbell and flower that she was standing on. I used a Rice Krispies treat formed with a bowl as a form for the house (inside of the house was hollow). I also cut out a window so that you could look into her house (the kids at the party thought that was really cool---silly kids). Everyone thought that the rocks were real rocks and were asking me if I made sure to wash them really well. I had to bite into one myself to show them that they were actually gum paste and totally edible. My granddaughter was soooo excited to have Tinkerbell's house on the cake with Tinkerbell. She has probably watched the movie 200+ times (she has her own copy on DVD and a portable DVD player). One of these days I will have to take some classes so I can do a better job.
