Claudia's Hippo Cake

I made this wedding cake for a family friend. It's a buttercake layered with coconut syrup, caramel and cream. It's covered in a layere of vanilla buttercream and then white fondant. The gerberas were hand moulded with sugarpaste. The bride loves hippos so I hand moulded a hippo bride and groom in sugarpaste.

Absolutely beautiful! Gerberas are my favorite flower in the world!! You represented them perfectly! It's hard to make the centers look like the real thing, but you managed to do it wonderfully!

One more thing, these cakes were not centered, each tier was sitting back on the bottom tier. Hope this makes sense, but they were not lining up at the back, they still had a bit of a gap.
