This was made to go with the Gingham first birthday cake. It was an after-thought...I totally forgot to bake a smash cake and didn't remember until almost midnight and didn't feel like baking and I had a few leftover heart shaped cakes from valentine's treats the night before so I thought...hey, I could trim the points off the hearts and make a butterfly lol.
