Woman's Birthday Cake

Woman's Birthday Cake on Cake Central

This cake was made for my Mother in Law's birthday. It is a chocolate cake with red rasberry filling. Iced with chocolate buttercream. Flowers are royal icing and leaves are buttercream. The idea was taken from a book called the complete step by step guide to cake decorating.

I used the apple blossom layout on my #7 flower nail and then I used the tip#104 for the petals. I just put a squirt of yellow in the middle instead of five dots.

I have a heck of a time getting flowers vertical on the sides of the cake! Mine keep falling fown or sliding down, taking most of frosting on the side with it! How did you get them on there/how do you get them to stay?! Thanks!

Thanks everyone for all your comments. My frosting is just the Wilton Class chocolate buttercream frosting, only I used 1/2lbs. butter and 1/2 lbs. crisco. As for keeping the flowers on I piped a little frosting on the back side of the flower and put it where it needed to go. I hope this helps everyone. And Thanks again!!! :D
