Here's a sketch of how I made my "Valentine Cats" couch cake. I baked a 12"x12"x2" cake and then cut pieces out of it to make about a 10" long couch. I numbered the pieces in my sketch in the order I put them together. I cut two large rectangles for the base and put filling between them. Then I put the back of the couch on top and inserted 3 evenly spaced drinking straws as "dowels" for support. I carved Twinkie shapes from rectangles for the arms and inserted straws to keep them in place.
