Critique subgroup member: What a fun cake ist has such a child like appeal to me. Sort of reading a pirate book as a kid. It is a nice take on the water and treasure chest theme also. I'm not a fan of strong colors on a cake as to affect the teeth turning blue. :D You need to tighten up your dragging pearl border and the pennies should have been dried before placing on the cake to avoid the bend. But overall, it is fun cake!

Critique group member: Wow! Thgis is cake is so cool! All of the accessories are amazing! The only thing that bugs me is those waves, I know everyone else loved them but here are my thoughts: The whole cake is so realistic looking with the palm tree and chest etc., then all of a sudden you hit the fake looking waves and to me that kind kills the effect. I think you either need to make the waves more realistic or just lose them period.

Critique subgroup member: I haven't read everyone's comments yet but I love this. Yes, the board could use more "umph" but I really do love this. The only thing I can see is the inconsistencies in the lines on the side of the cake. I know it's tough to keep it looking like one line but try a damp fine tip paint brush and use that to "blend" the adjoining lines.

Critique Subgroup Member: Great looking cake! Your buttercream is super smooth, nice sharp edges, and I really like the wavy lines to denote water. The sand, treasure chest and palm trees look great, too. I don't think the board looks that bad -- good blend with the cake. One tiny thing I would change would be not to bend the coins on the border. Really top-notch work, Renee!.

Critique Group Member: Fun, great looking cake. So much going on makes it a really creative design! Just a few suggestions from me: all your molding work is done so perfectly, except the knife doesn't look as clean as everything else; also, love how you did the waves, but maybe your BC needed to be a bit thinner as it looks like some uneveness on the side waves.

Critique Subgroup Member: Arrrrr, matie, this be quite the cake I say! I love the unique use of buttercream for the waves. I agree with Susie that the melted coins look odd. The treasure chest, pearls, and maps are perfect...really nice. The board looks okay to me because of the theme and the silver knife. If you wanted to cover the board, some sugar sand around would have looked great.

critique subgroup member: What a fun cake! I also see some inconsistencies on the side "waves," but I love the technique. The accessories are fantastic. I love the trees and flag. The treasure chest is perfect. I agree that to spruce up the board, some graham cracker crumbs and/or brown sugar sand would have been perfect. All in all it is super and I am sure it was a huge hit.

Critique subgroup member: The chest, the money, the tree, the flag, the sword, etc -- all the accessories are wonderful. I'm sure they loved it! The icing is very smooth, and I like how you got some movement in it, but I'm not wild about the fact that the same color is used all over. I think some variation in the coloring would have been good. Otherwise, I love it!

Critique Subgroup Member:what an awesome cake!! I love the color of your blue and the wave design- very original. Your chest and the accessories look great. I agree about the bent coins, but they hardly take away formt eh rest of your detail work. I think your board is fine, as well. It looks nice and neat- excellent cake
