Critique Subgroup Member: Hi. Cute cake and generally a nice job. The quilt looks very nice and I don't think your handwriting looks so bad. From these photos, it doesn't look like the top and bottom ribbons match in color or size. I think it would be nice if all the borders were the same. That shell looks very long. The top tier looks like it has some straight sides. I'm sorry to be so critical, but that's why we're doing this.

Critique Subgroup Member: This cake is awesome, and very creative. If I had to find fault I would mention the shape of the quilt a little it could have matched the edge of the cake. I also would like to see the ribbons match as well, unless they wanted it that way. The writing is beautiful, take it easy on yourself :D I really like this one!!!!!

thanks everyone! i actually did do the different ribbons on pupose because the bedding the mom-to-be chose has two different color blue gingham patterns on it, so i wanted to match that. suzie, don't be sorry, i need this! thanks!

critique subgroup member: I really like this cake and would have loved to have it at my baby shower. I do notice the bottom edge of the quilt is sort of squared off, but the rest is round to follow the cake. I think I would have made it all square (a piece of draped fondant) or all round (basketweave to follow the cake). I don't mind the 2 different ribbons, but I think I would have switched them and put the thicker one on the bottom cake. I also think I would leave off the shell border...to be cont...

...cont...around the base of the top cake. It just looks a little out of place to me. Maybe a border of fluffly clouds or maybe a shell but in white...I'm not sure. It REALLY is a very nice cake and I think you should be very proud of it. I am sure your cousin was more than thrilled!

critique subgroup member: I agree with the comments on squaring off the basket weave. Other than that I think it's great! I think your handwriting is fine as well. Your tiers look nice and neat and the ribbon works well with the overall look of your cake. Nice work :)

Critique subgroup member: Cute design! Lovely blue. Baby is adorable. Okay some things to look at - handwriting still needs work. Get some tappits you won't be sorry. pitch the stars they are too "Wilton I Class" Your running shell border on the top tierr needs to be closer together and look like shells. As of now, it lookes like a really fast boarder done at the grocery store. - Sorry. I'll PM you a nice boarder to see what I mean. But this is still a nice cake and I would be thrilled to have had it!

critique group member: this is a cute cake. your quilt with the baby is perfect. I am not sure what it is but I think its a combo of the different ribbons, maybe used the top ribbon for the bottom and no ribbon for the top cake because you already have a pattern on the top. and then you have different borders on the tops of the cakes..maybe a little more uniformed on those...and I don't think your writing looks bad...very nice actually! sorry to point out some silly things! I think they will love the ca...

Critique group member: This is very cute! I think the baby head maybe should be a bit larger and I agree that the star border needs to go.

on

 by 'star border' do you all mean the one on the top of the bottom cake? umm, it's not stars, it's drop flowers.... i guess i still need more practice!

Critique Subgroup Member: This cake is absolutely adorable...I love the expression on the baby's face!! I don't think your writing is awful, but I agree with Shirl about the tappits which make perfect lettering for cheap money. ;-D
