I made this for my son's boy scout cake auction. I looked at a lot of giant cupcakes here, but ended up be most inspired by a cake done by debbiedoescakes that I found on the internet. I think it fetched $43 for the boy scouts.
Love how you made the pleated "cup" to go around the cake. Very ingenious!! How did you get that top icing so smooth? Did you sculpt the top? Great Job! ;-D
The paper is parchment. it was great stuck into the buttercream fine but didnt get stuck to it. the top was carved into a spiral. I would carve the spirals deeper next time.
Lovely work!

The cup wasnt really my idea....the top is sculpted and then covered with fondant
very pretty!
I've seen debbie's cupcake. You certainly did it justice. Very well done!
so love the sprinkles!!!! (so love the whole cake!!!)
Hey, that's so cool! What is the paper? Is it edible?
And is the top of the cupcake sculpted in sort of a spiral?
